Lysander, the son of the Greek commander in the Indo-Bactrian town Taxila, has lost his father in an ambush. Now he must leave his homeland and protected childhood to join his hard-bitten uncle as a recruit in the Hindu Kush. Phillip, a veteran soldier from Alexandria, is the only one accompanying him. Riding his last horse, Lysander begins a journey into the unknown.

JOE HEIMER is a pseudonym. The author has a degree in Ancient and Modern History. Since graduating, he has worked for over fifteen years for various interna-tional companies in Spain, Poland, Austria and Germany. During a creative break after the birth of his twins, he fulfilled a long-held wish to pursue writing historical novels in parallel.
