Delafield, born Edmée Elizabeth Monica Dashwood, neé de la Pasture on June 9, 1890, was an eminent English author best known for her largely autobiographical work 'The Diary of a Provincial Lady' (Illustrated Edition). Delafield's work is renowned for its wit, social observation, and commentary on the domestic and social issues of her time. Her literary style often employed a diary format and is characterized by irony, self-deprecation, and an incisive portrayal of the human condition.
