Azza, daughter of the Caliph

The novel "Azza Bint Al-Khalifa" immerses you in the depth of the experience of perception and feeling when you lose sight, as Azza, the heroine of the story, takes you on an enchanting journey in which she reveals the meanings of love and beauty in her heart before her eyes. The events move through scenes mixed with the magic of Islamic history, from the halls of the palace of the great Fatimid Caliph to the areas of his secret garden, where secrets are hidden that were only revealed to the eyes of Azza. This theatrical work, which was translated into Arabic by Ibrahim Ramzi from an English translation by Edmund Phipps, is a retelling of the play "King René's Daughter" by the Danish poet Henrik Hertz, and presents a unique story that blends imagination with reality, and history with myth, in a narrative fabric that captivates hearts and minds.

إبراهيم رمزي هو أحد أعلام المسرح العربي الحديث، ورائد في تأصيل الأجناس الأدبية الجديدة في مصر. ولد في السادس من أكتوبر عام ١٨٨٤م بالمنصورة، وانتقل لاحقًا إلى القاهرة حيث تخرج من المدرسة الخديوية الثانوية، ثم تابع تعليمه بالجامعة الأمريكية في بيروت. بدأ حياته المهنية كمترجم في المحكمة المدنية بالخرطوم، ثم عاد إلى مصر ليعمل في عدد من الصحف والمؤسسات التعليمية، بما في ذلك جريدة اللواء ومفتشًا لمدارس المعلمين. عُرِف رمزي بإسهاماته البارزة في المسرح، حيث كتب ما يقرب من خمسين عملاً بين مؤلف ومترجم، تنوعت بين المسرحيات التاريخية والاجتماعية. وقد قام بترجمة العديد من الأعمال الأدبية العالمية، وترك بصمة واضحة في الحياة الثقافية المصرية. توفي رمزي في مارس ١٩٤٩م، تاركًا إرثًا أدبيًا غنيًا.
