محمد حسين هيكل، شخصية أدبية وسياسية مصرية بارزة، وُلِد في 1888 في محافظة الدقهلية، مصر. تتلمذ في مدارس الجمالية والخديوية وتخرج من مدرسة الحقوق المصرية. درس القانون في فرنسا، حيث حصل على درجة الدكتوراه. بعد عودته لمصر في 1912، انخرط في الصحافة ثم الأكاديمية، قبل أن يتفرغ للعمل السياسي. شغل مناصب بارزة مثل رئيس تحرير جريدة "السياسة"، رئيس لحزب الأحرار الدستوريين، وزير المعارف والشئون الاجتماعية، ورئيس مجلس الشيوخ. مؤلفاته في الأدب والتاريخ، مثل "حياة محمد"، قدمت مساهمات فكرية معتبرة، مُعززة بنظرة نقدية للحضارة الغربية التي عايش أفولها خلال الحروب العالمية والاستعمار. توفي هيكل في 1956، تاركًا إرثًا أدبيًا وفكريًا غنيًا ومؤثرًا.
