Outside the harem
Über das eBook
In the novel "Out of the Harem", Amin Al-Rihani deals with the life story of the Turkish princess "Jahan", who has her freedom in her sights, and aspires to be free in the true sense of the word, after her husband Shukri Bey failed her by marrying another woman. Jahan decides to leave his magnificent palace on the banks of the Bosphorus, and return to her father's house, and from there she begins to see her life anew, contemplates its details and performs many works that place her in the heart of society, even though she is Turkish by birth, and has been doomed to live in the midst of harsh old traditions. Which made her suffer the most severe spiritual and mental torments, but her culture and reading Nietzsche's words made her more eager to find her deeper self. Will she truly be able to do this, after being exposed to clashes with society? What price must she pay in order to improve the condition of the harem?
