The events of the novel take place in Ain Kafaa, the village where the writer Maroun Abboud was born, and where he spent a long part of his life. It was strongly present in his literature, as he was inspired by its life and the psychology of its people, and made it the subject of some of his books, such as "The Dwarves of the Titans" and "Conversations."
