The will to believe

The Will to Believe by William James... The human individual had an abundant share in James's philosophy. History emanates from him and all philosophy begins from him. He is the apparent force that raises and lowers the group, and his action is the guide to life. "God has placed both life and death and good and evil in His hands. He told him to choose life rather than death so that you and your descendants may live." James emphasized the importance of individual paradoxes and their role in social development. He discussed a single moral system assumed by moral philosophy. He reached the origin of moral judgments, the origin of goodness and ugliness, and how to form the relationship between morality and religion. James also provided psychological treatment for the pessimism from which many suffer.
