The Face and the Mask by Robert Parr is an exciting collection of short stories that includes twenty-four stories ranging from suspense, mystery, and humor, and explores the nature and depths of the human soul. From political machinations between radical leftists, to a parody of the character of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, through to a mysterious crime involving a Parisian girl whose life changes. Entirely because of her, these stories present a variety of issues, such as the preference for money over health, the danger of gambling, and the inevitability of death, to present to us "Bar" in an interesting form that combines tragedy and comedy. This collection is a unique combination of detective literature and human drama, and is a mirror that reflects Contradictions of life and morals.

روبرت بار هو كاتب وصحفي اسكتلندي كندي وُلد في جلاسجو، اسكتلندا عام 1849. عُرف بإسهاماته في أدب الجريمة خلال العصر الذهبي لهذا النوع الأدبي. اشتُهر بتقديمه أول محاكاة ساخرة لشخصية شيرلوك هولمز تحت عنوان "مغامرات شيرلو كومبس"، مما عزز مكانته ككاتب ساخر ومبدع في الأدب البوليسي. كتب العديد من المجموعات القصصية البارزة مثل "انتقام!" و"نجاحات يوجين فالمونت". يُقال إن شخصية "يوجين فالمونت" التي ابتكرها ألهمت أجاثا كريستي في إنشاء شخصية المحقق الشهير "هيركيول بوارو". توفي بار في عام 1912 متأثرًا بمرض القلب في إنجلترا.
