Tao-te-king

The Tao-Te-King (Book of Way and Virtue) is a profound philosophical work attributed to the Chinese philosopher Lao-tse. This book expresses a profound understanding of the principles of life and nature. It begins with a provocative statement that expresses the essence of the Tao: "If we could point out the way, it would not be the eternal way." The book focuses on the concept of the Tao (the path) which cannot be named or defined, but represents the true essence of everything. Historically, the book was not known until the sixth century AD, and although information about Lao Zi's life and whether he was a real or legendary figure is not clear, the influence of his book on Chinese thought and philosophy was profound. The book combines mysticism and practical wisdom. It turned into a religion with rituals and priests, and had major political and religious influences in ancient China. Taoism is considered the embodiment of a new way of thinking, highlighting the close relationship between man and nature, and opposing traditional religions that focus only on reason.

لاو تسي هو حكيم صيني يُعتبر مؤسس الفلسفة الطاوية، وقد عاش في الفترة ما بين القرن السادس والخامس قبل الميلاد. وُلِد في الصين القديمة وكان مسؤولًا عن إدارة الكتب والمحفوظات خلال فترة حكم أسرة "تشو". يُعتقد أنه عاش حوالي ستين عامًا، رغم أن هناك بعض الآراء التي تشير إلى أنه عاش مئتي عام. بعد تدهور الأوضاع في البلاط الملكي، قرر لاو تسي مغادرة العاصمة لويانغ دون أن يعرف أحد وجهته. ترك وراءه مجموعة من المؤلفات التي تُعدّ مرجعًا فلسفيًا ودينيًا للشعب الصيني، ومن أبرز أعماله "تاو تي كنج" و"الأخلاق"، والتي لا تزال تُدرس وتُتداول حتى اليوم. تتسم فلسفته بالعمق والروحانية، حيث تدعو إلى التوازن والانسجام بين الإنسان والطبيعة.
