A selection of short stories

Want to discover a different side of comedian Jerome K. Jerome? This "selection of short stories" offers you an opportunity to delve into his literary world from a new angle, as he moves away from the "comedic character" for which he is known, to present to us three stories that are distinguished by their "serious philosophical and social character." The three stories revolve around a "mysterious stranger" who suddenly appears in the lives of the characters, dramatically changing the course of their lives. Jerome does not reveal the identity of this man, but rather leaves it to the reader to contemplate and interpret. In the first story, the "strange man" takes on the image of "Christ," bringing hope and change into the lives of the residents of a dilapidated inn. The other two stories explore "deep philosophical questions" about "the meaning of life" and "the nature of human existence."

يُعدّ "جيروم كيه جيروم" (1859-1927) أحدَ أَشهرِ كُتّابِ الفكاهةِ في الأَدبِ الإنجليزيّ. اشتهرَ بِرواياتِه وَمسرحيّاتِه الكوميدية التي تَمتاز بِأُسلوبِها الظّريف وَخِفّةِ دَمِها. ومن أَشهرِ أعمالهِ : "ثلاثة رجال في قارب" ، وَ "أَفكار تافهة لِرَجلٍ كسول" ، وَ "ثلاثة رجال في رحلةٍ بِالدّرّاجات".
