Historians consider the Mosque of Ibn Tulun to be the most important Arab monument in Egypt, given the antiquity of its buildings and the remaining monuments of Arab art from the ancient era. Ahmed Ibn Tulun came to Egypt and enlisted in the army, then built the palace and the square and established the palaces, where the famous mosque named after him was built.
When Ahmed Ibn Tulun came from Iraq as Emir of Egypt in the year 254 AH/868 AD, he stayed at the Emirate's residence with the military, and it had a door to the mosque. When the military became uncomfortable with the large number of his followers and entourage, and it is possible that he saw him as unprotected, he turned away from him and took for his residence a secluded, spacious place, where he was found. Now Salah El-Din Square, which was known as Rumaila, Qara Square, and Al-Mansheya.
