Postmodernism in the new Arab novel
Über das eBook
This book provides a reading of the manifestations of postmodernism in the new Arab novel through significant models. Five novels were chosen, from three Arab countries, which the researcher saw as expressing, in one way or another, the visions of postmodernism, and in their entirety they condemn what the Arabs have reached. It expresses the crisis of the Arab person, the loss of belonging, the feeling of inferiority in the homeland, the absence of a comprehensive identity, and the dominance of individualism and narcissism.
Postmodern novels carried a different style, and even if some of their writers were modernists, they reread reality and experience, and some of them were not modernists, but rather from the younger generation who grew up in bright slogans and false application, so they set out to criticize reality, with clear language and narration. Direct, and an expression of crises with a comprehensive vision, with frank questions, an anatomy of the homeland, and self-disambiguation with all its contradictions, discussion of taboos, and rejection of major ideologies, which they believed in for a period of time, and called for in their writings, and then came back rejecting them: either because of the futility of applying them. Or because its advocates are not worthy of it, or because everyone has been fed up with the tyranny of the Arab dictatorships. These novels contained many of the aesthetic achievements of the Arab novel, in terms of form, style, and structure.
