He devoted himself to studying philosophy and ancient sciences, and Al-Ma'mun entrusted him with the task of supervising the translation of Greek philosophical and scientific works into Arabic at the House of Wisdom.
Al-Kindi played an important role in mathematics, especially in introducing Indian numerals to the Islamic and Christian world. He was also a pioneer in cryptanalysis and devising new methods for cracking codes. Using his mathematical and medical experience, he developed a scale that allowed doctors to measure the effectiveness of medicine, and also conducted experiments on music therapy.
