John Dewey
Über das eBook
John Dewey is not unknown to the masses of intellectuals in the Arab East, as his views on education were transmitted a long time ago, and teachers who studied in education institutes took them as their guidance. Many of his books were translated into Arabic, including "Democracy and Education," "Experience and Education," "Freedom and Culture," "A Renewal in Philosophy," and "The Living Opinions of Thomas Jefferson." Although no other philosophers succeeded in translating this number of his works into Arabic - with the exception of Plato and Aristotle among the ancients and a few moderns - no independent book was written about him that analyzes his philosophy, explains it, and presents it to the Arab public. Perhaps this is due to the abundance of his writings, the accuracy of his doctrine, and the ruggedness of his style.
Dewey was not only recognized as our most prominent thinker, but he was the representative in whom most of the things we consider American were embodied. He had a mixture of pragmatism that emphasized the balance of practical results, the scientific method, technological inventions, democracy as both a form of government and a way of life, and the first American spirit. It was characterized by its belief that the common man could build, in cooperation, a more humane civilization.
