Über das eBook

The human poet Rabindranath Tagore saw man as sacred, because he is the image in which the power of the Almighty and the greatness of the Creator on earth is revealed. He loved man - any man - and sanctified his rights and worked hard for them. Even in the darkest hours of his life, he never lost his faith in man.
His poetry was inspired by the human spirit, and by the message of the Creator of the universe to all of humanity, and by his deep belief that the supreme word of God and his message to humanity will not be fully realized except when freedom prevails and social justice is achieved. He directed his supplications to Malik al-Mulk to save her from the paths of misguidance and guide her to the straight path, to which he sent his songs and poems to awaken her from her slumber and raise her from her stupor. We have the right to re-read the abundance of his thoughts, to repeat his poems and songs, and to teach them to our children, so that they may grow up believing in his message and working to achieve it.
In fulfillment of this right, we issue these selections from his poetic pieces, which are The Crescent, Chitra, Gitanjali, The Gardener, The Reaping of Fruits, and The Post Office. There is nothing more memorable than reviving the thought of the great by constantly reading it until it settles in the soul, a faith that motivates work for freedom, peace, and the care of human rights: those principles that Tagore believed in and called for.
