The book "The Briefing in the News of Granada" is one of the most famous and largest works by Lisan al-Din Ibn al-Khatib. The title of the book indicates the goal that Ibn al-Khatib aimed for by writing it, which is to provide a comprehensive picture of everything related to Granada in terms of descriptions and news, so he mentioned its meadows, mountains, and rivers. In the book, he translated four hundred and ninety-three (493) Andalusian personalities who ruled Granada or came to it from Morocco or the East, including kings, princes, notables, governors, ministers, judges, notables, ascetics, and Sufis, and he did not forget to write his biography at the end of the book.
Ibn al-Khatib used more than one name for the book. He mentioned it, along with the title under which he wrote this book, with the names: "The History of Granada," which he said was in seven books, and "the History of Granada," which he said was in nine books. "The History of Granada," which he said was "in twelve books." He also mentioned it under the title "Eliminating as much detail as possible of the history of Granada." The order he adopted in the book was to mention the Granadian city, describe its virtues, and talk about those who inhabited it and ruled it, adhering to the alphabetical order. For the authors of the translations, not the historical order.
