Instincts and their relationship to education

Instinct is an innate tendency to act caused by external stimuli, unless it is overpowered by intelligence, in which case the organism is considered creative and more versatile. Examples of animal behaviors that are not based on previous experience include reproduction and feeding among insects, fighting between animals, animal courtship behavior, internal escape instincts, and nest building. Instinctive behavior appears across a wide spectrum of animal life, all the way down to bacteria that push themselves toward beneficial substances and away from repellent substances.
On the other hand, others consider some human behaviors to be instinctive, such as instinctive reflexes in children because these are not learned, as are some other traits such as altruism and quick reactions. This concept is still highly controversial. Accordingly, there is no instinctive human behavior. Likewise, some sociologists consider instincts to be innate behaviors present in all individuals of any species that cannot be overcome, but rather because the need for sex and hunger can be overcome.
