Individualism, ancient and modern

It is not important to choose the salient or trivial aspects of the contradiction between the external life we ​​live and our thoughts and feelings, or at least what we call our beliefs and feelings. The important question here is: What is the reason for this division and contradiction? There is, of course, a group that attributes the reason to the fact that people, being generally children in the guise of men, or inactive morons, are only expected to play the roles they are entrusted to perform. But this "interpretation" does not take us far, even if we accept it and are satisfied with it. Because it does not explain the specific way in which the referred to dullness appears.
The more a person deepens his knowledge and study of history, the more deeply rooted is his belief that traditions and systems play a more prominent role in explaining matters than innate ability or innate inability. It is clearly evident that rapid industrialization in our civilization has taken us by surprise and was not prepared for it. Mentally and spiritually, our old beliefs have stopped growing, although the further we move away from them, the more we pretend to cling to and embrace them. In reality, we consider those beliefs to be magical prescriptions. By constantly repeating them, we hope to ward off the disadvantages of the new situation, or at least to prevent ourselves from developing. From seeing these disadvantages, our nominal beliefs do the latter job effectively.
