Country symphony
Über das eBook
The novel "The Rural Symphony" by the French writer Andre Gide, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature, is his second most published work and one of the most influential and widespread of these works. Therefore, it has been translated into many languages of the world, including our Arabic language, and its first translation was the one that... We present it. It was published in Cairo in 1938, and was followed by other translations with different titles, including "The Pastoral Symphony" or "The Shepherds' Symphony."
In the novel, Andre Gide records the diaries of a rural clergyman who lives with his family in a strict atmosphere. Despite his wife's refusal, this man decides to shelter a blind orphan girl whose breadwinner has died, and the man raises her. The girl shows him features of intelligence, acumen, and wide imagination mixed with extreme sensitivity. A distinct relationship develops between them, prompting them to ask existential questions about themselves and the surrounding world, and the feeling of paternal kindness and tenderness develops into a feeling of love that collides with reality.
