In the desert of Libya

Al-Hadari may think that it is easy to ride a camel, in a caravan that travels the land for weeks or months in company, however agreed upon. This thought is far from the realities of things, for a journey like the journey of Hassanein "Bey" in the middle of the desert, there is no safety from it except by a miracle or With God's great grace.
The traveler is on such a path; And in such a caravan, in which there is no resemblance between him and any of its members in his personal disputes, education, understanding of life, or morals, he is every hour exposed to destruction from the betrayal of those with him, from the error of the guide, from the loss of wanderings, and from the unforgiving antics of nature. Its ordinary people, when its winds stir up the desert sands and bury them alive, those human ghosts that sway on their backs, as if they were punishing them for leaving their natural habitats and for ignoring what nature wanted them to do. It would be desolate for every inhabitant, and especially for human beings, and as such, we should appreciate the courage of our Egyptian traveller, and his devotion to exploration. In fact, it is an arduous journey. Dr. Hume said: Ahmed Bey Hassanein's journey has opened before us a great area that was hitherto unknown on earth.
