Ethics according to Al-Ghazali

This is the book for which the author was accused of disbelief and heresy, and in which his envious people unleashed an inexhaustible source of idle talk and gossip.. The author says, "By God, I do not regret an opinion I saw, or a statement I spoke out loud. I am not one of those who, in truth, fear the blame of a blamer, or give weight to a plot." The envious, the idle talkers, the sick of heart, the weak of mind, and the small of soul, but I am saddened by the stubbornness my friends face. In repelling what the liars slander, and the corrupters fabricate that Al-Ghazali, may God have mercy on him, suffered from his envious people like I suffered, and suffered twice as much as I suffered... So what reason is more perfect and wiser than the Master of Messengers, peace and blessings of God be upon him, and they said that he is a madman among the madmen, and what words are more noble and truer than the words of the Lord? of the worlds, and they said that it is the legends of the ancients."
