The Taming of the Shrew

The word "Shrew" in English means a loud, powerful, bad-mannered, and fierce woman. Accordingly, the literal translation of the title is taming (the woman) of power, or taming the ferocity.
But since the title requires a special care from the translator, it is not permissible for him to be content with translating it verbatim... The translator says, "I thought of going beyond a little, as the French translator did, and I decided to make it "The Taming of the Shrew." It made it easy for me that arrogance and ferocity are two words with the same meaning, which is bad character, disguise, disagreement, and boldness, and that they are an attribute of a predatory animal such as a lion, a tiger, and the like, just as it is an attribute of a human being. "The tiger is a name used to describe a savage man, and therefore a woman is a tiger."
