How Do We Raise Ourselves?

No young man is devoid of an upward tendency that inspires in him the desire and activity to rise above himself and rise to higher levels than the level in which he lives. This tendency to advance, or as Bernardo Shaw calls it, the lust for development, takes different forms that are affected by the social environment and desired ideals. A young man may aspire to wealth, prestige, sports, or study, and his choice of one of these goals or others may be childish, influenced by his behavior during the days. Childhood, as if it were the remnants of the first years of life, and it may be mature, arose from conscience (i.e. awareness) or at least from some conscience.
This book is an attempt to guide young people towards cultural advancement within the limits of the social environment.
