inquisition
Über das eBook
Granada, the last Muslim fortress in Spain, fell in the year (897 AH = 1492 AD). This was a harbinger of the fall of the religious and social edifice of the Andalusian nation, and the dissipation of its intellectual and literary heritage. The tragedy of the Muslims there was one of the most horrific tragedies in history. That period witnessed barbaric and brutal acts committed by the Inquisition to purge Spain of traces of Islam and Muslims, and to annihilate their heritage that had flourished in this country for nearly eight centuries.
Many Andalusian Muslims also immigrated to North Africa after the fall of their kingdom, fleeing with their religion and freedom from the persecution of the Spanish Christians. Spain returned to its old religion, but the remaining Muslims were forced to become Christians or leave. This fanatical spirit led to the persecution, oppression, and terrorization of defenseless Muslims, which ended with the execution of a death sentence against a nation and religion on the land of Spain.
