Voluntary Action
Über das eBook
The basic difference that distinguishes civilized man from late primitive man is due to the ability of the former to perform free voluntary actions. If we contemplate the lives of primitives and peoples lagging behind in the procession of civilization, we would find that it is a life of submission to illusions and superstitions that control actions, direct them in a certain direction and do not allow them to innovate. Action, then, has a close connection with the mind and beliefs, and it is from the field of psychology, not physiology, even though in its appearance it appears to be a physical phenomenon.
Philosophers and clergy have tried to reach the truth of the will, and it has been their whole attempt. The well-known result was achieved and the will was separated from its external manifestations. They said that there is an independent will that directs the body as it wishes. Some philosophers attributed absolute freedom to it and attributed it to the will of God according to others. Some people said that man is free and willing, and others said that he is forced to go.
