Men I knew

In the pages of the book there are various comments on the careers of a group of notables whom we used to call sheikhs or magnates, when I began my journalistic life years before World War I. Some of them were not sheikhs and magnates in that period, but they followed them on the way and we knew them as we knew the first ones, and we described our knowledge of them as we described our knowledge of those sheikhs and magnates, from a special angle that allows us to say about them what is not in the general history that is said in every comment or appreciation.
