Colors of the Short Story in American Literature

American society has been dominated by two apparent traits: one is the general supremacy of the Sunnah in matters of beliefs and morals, and the other is the trait of practical experience and self-esteem in paving the way of life and facing the unknown.
Two qualities may agree well, or they may conflict fiercely. Maintaining the general Sunnah and self-esteem flows in one direction, or the direction differs with the experiences of reality. This is the violent conflict, and we consider it the focus of the greatest conflict in the problems of literature and the dilemmas of the human soul between realistic practical success and the care of principles and principles, as represented in modern American literature, whether it be a story, a play, or a school of philosophy.
