What did the poet mean by evoking literary and political figures who had a significant impact on Egyptian life? What is the symbol that Al-Akkad poses? What is the hidden meaning behind the characters of Salama Moussa and Ahmed Lotfy Al-Sayed?
The great intellectuals failed to save the beautiful writer Mai, and her end was in the mental institution. Taha Hussein escaped from it, and Al-Akkad, Ismail Sabry, and all the journalistic writers who were constantly following and writing about her disappeared. Does this mean the collapse of thought in the face of the situation? Does this mean that we all contributed to the assassination of the beautiful Mai?
Is Mai's image a symbol of a dying nation around which thinkers, intellectuals, and poets stand helpless? Has thought failed to renaissance reality?
This play raises many questions that are worth reading for.
