Gazelle of the Red Path

In her second collection of short stories, "The Deer of the Red Trail," Sulaf Hilal returns to reviewing memory through self-reflection and pausing before the lives of others with all their ambiguities and contradictions. She poses her questions about time, love, and the human entity trapped within its individual reality. Through the worlds of simple people, the writer lures her characters to tell their stories that remain open to unknown endings.
In some stories, she sheds light on the reality of women, which makes them constantly oscillate between what they want to achieve and what society imposes on them under a tyrannical patriarchal system that forces them to submit. The writer takes the reader's hand to memories of the revolution, telling about Tahrir Square and moments of freedom. The writer also enters the world of metaphysics from its wide door, stressing that writing is the hidden thread that unites what really happened, what can happen, and what will never happen.
