Harun al-Rashid

Haroun Al-Rashid...the reason I love him is that he is an emotional and tasteful man, subject to temporary influences. He prays one hundred rak'ahs every day, and performs Hajj on foot. On the other hand, he is fascinated by beauty, singing, and drinking sessions. Abu Al-Atahiyya talks to him about asceticism, and he cries until his beard is wet. Ibn Abi Maryam tells him a joke and he laughs until he lies on his back, and he is satisfied with the Baramika. He unleashes upon them, becomes angry with them, and punishes them severely.
A man like this is - usually - frank and honest... and I love him too; Because it is the highest status of the East in the West, whenever Harun al-Rashid is mentioned, Westerners imagine the East with its wondrous charm and enchanting appeal. The reason for this is the book One Thousand and One Nights.
