Despite what may seem to be close accusations against Heikal for his responsibility for participating in the defeat of June 1967, which is considered the largest military defeat befell the Arab world in its modern history, and even with the criticism directed at Heikal because he was the first to adopt Israeli allegations that the October 1973 war was a military defeat for Sadat and not a victory, Heikal remains a prominent landmark in the history of the Arab and Egyptian press.
In this book, we shed light on the most important stations in the life of Heikal, who lived in all the royal and republican eras that Egypt passed before and after three revolutions, and under two kings and six presidents, and where Heikal's approach to power or his distance from it was a thermometer to measure the relationship between the press and the state, not only in Egypt but in the Arab world.
